Donna McCormick is a smart, pretty college student whose twenty-first birthday is a week away. Unfortunately, so is her murder – unless the mysterious man from the darkness can reach her first.
Donna is pursued in her dreams by a man who claims to be her Eternal Partner. During her waking hours, she’s cornered by another who claims to be the same. There’s only one problem: neither is entirely honest.
Or, for that matter, entirely human.
Eight years earlier, Donna’s life was dealt a terrible blow with the untimely death of a little brother who was left in her care. Ever since, Donna has yearned to get a normal life back – and despite her best friend Mo’s efforts to the contrary, Donna has almost managed it…at least until the Underworld cracks wide open, scattering chaos and spilling out every shifty force under the moon. Most of them want Donna dead, but some will stop at nothing to keep her alive.
Too bad she doesn’t know which is which.
With death following Donna like a shadow, she turns to her best friend for help. But instead of help, Mo offers only more mystery. And she knows more about the Underworld than she’s willing to admit.
Now, Donna must choose: Cling to the mortal world where she feels safe, or embrace the Underworld where her dreams – and nightmares – come true.
One thing’s for sure – doing either one might get her killed in both.
Donna is pulled every which way. Who is this mysterious kinda guy she meets in the pub telling her to stay home and who calls himself Hunter? How come that her nightmares – in which she is being harassed by another guy – are feeling all too real leaving her literally bruised and hurting? And what do these two guys have in common other than both claiming they are her Eternal Partners?
“Someday you’ll meet two men,”she [grandmother] said, “One will sweep you off your feet and the other will knock you down. Beware – they are from a dark place where mortals dare not tread.”
What kind of girlfriend is Mo, who is more interested in trying to solve the mystery of the missing girls, than with Donna’s safety, while Donna fits the bill of the victims to a T?
Donna is confused – and who wouldn’t – not knowing whom to trust, what to think and what does she know of the Underworld anyway? Apparently more than she is aware of! She is actually the one around which an age-old battle is fought, a battle that has been repeated over and over again, but will there be a different outcome this time?
We are being introduced to numerous Underworld creatures like vampires, minions, demons, zombies, contract killers and soul stealers.
“You don’t have to forget, love,” Dante’s smile was as wide as the horizon. “You simply have to own it [fear], rather that it owning you. “
At the center of the battle is hatred, unforgiveness, a desire for world dominion and power – and since it involves the undead, the battle seems to be an eternal one. There is a lot going on in both worlds that is interlinked at different levels. Religion enters the picture as well in the form of a prophecy. An organization is formed to overcome the evil results and restore order in both worlds. But will they succeed? And is the baby that Donna carries the one to fulfill the prophecy?
“The Prophecy tells that the child conceived of the vampire Warrior and the mortal Warrior will destroy the Arch-evil Monster.”
I found it hard to get into the story in the beginning, but once some of the threads started to come together I was completely drawn in. I love the humorous aspects the author sprinkled throughout the story, it made me chuckle more than once!
The story picks up pace drastically as more and more of the plot is revealed. It’s fun to be introduced to a whole – for me – new Underworld with its own rules and ways. But there is much more depth to the story than a fight over a woman and I love a story that gets into the deeper issues of life, as this author has done.
It is a truly fantastic story in every way possible! Go grab your FREE copy!!!!!

What/Who is WaAR?
So I am part of this awesome group on Facebook called Wanda’s amazing Amazon Reviewers – WaAr for short – where I have met and talked to many Indie authors. We really are one crazy bunch of letter-writing-letter-eating people who like to hang out with one another. This group has me dabbling into some genres I never read before – like Dystopian, Paranormal, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Young Adult – as there is a huge variety of genres that ‘our’ authors create. I intend to put many of them in the spotlight through book reviews and interviews, so keep your eyes on this spot!
I received an e-copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
